From the 17th of May, Saudi Arabia will lift the travel ban. See which categories are allowed to travel.

The Saudi Arabian Ministry of Interior stated that the lifting of the travel ban for citizens, as well as the complete opening of land, sea, and air ports, would begin at 1 a.m. on Monday, May 17th, 2021.

Based on the information provided by the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia’s competent health authorities, it has been agreed to lift the effective suspension of citizens’ travel outside the Kingdom, beginning at 1:00 a.m. on Monday, May 17, 2021, for the following categories:

1. According to the Tawakkalna application, people who received two full doses of the (Covid 19) vaccine, as well as those who received one dose, are eligible for immunity if 14 days have passed after the first dose.

2. Citizens recovering from the Corona virus (Covid-19), provided that they have spent less than 6 months after being infected with the virus, according to what appears in the Tawakkalna application.

3. Citizens under the age of 18 are permitted to travel if they present, prior to departure, a Saudi Central Bank-approved insurance policy covering the risks of Covid 19 outside the Kingdom, in accordance with the relevant authorities’ instructions.

4. They are subjected to home quarantine for a duration of 7 days after returning to the Kingdom, provided that a PCR test is performed at the end of the quarantine period, and persons under the age of 8 years are exempt from the test, and this category is updated according to Ministry of Health instructions.

The source emphasized the importance of everybody following precautionary and protective measures and not being complacent when it comes to health requirements such as social distancing, wearing a mask, and constantly disinfecting hands.

According to the Interior Ministry, all precautionary and preventive steps related to travel are subject to continuous review by the Public Health Authority (Weqaya) based on epidemiological developments.

The Ministry encourages travelers to follow the protocols and restrictions placed by other countries to prevent any problems or difficulties, as well as to exercise vigilance while traveling to high-risk countries where the disease is spreading rapidly, as announced by the competent authorities on a regular basis.
